Santa Teresa Gallura is situated at the extreme northern end of the island of Sardinia (Italy), overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio. It is the point of arrival and departure of daily ferries covering the 9 km distance separating Sardinia and Corsica (France). The town is easily reached from the port and airport in Olbia in less than one hour by car; it is just over 90 minutes from the port of Porto Torres; and approximately two hours from the airport in Alghero. For those arriving by land, Santa Teresa Gallura, situated at the end of the long straight Via Nazionale, appears at first glance one of the few level towns in Sardinia. In reality, as those arriving by sea are immediately aware, it extends across a rocky plane, 44 meters above sea level, towards the Strait of Bonifacio along a fragmented coastline. The population currently numbers 4,159 inhabitants. The average temperature from June to September is 20°C and 24/26°C during the months of July and August. Spring generally begins at the end of February and lasts until May, with a gentle climate.
