It is a series of rock formations, fjords and high cliffs. Among white calcareous cliffs, the inlet of Cala Domestica delights the eyes of the spectator with a beach covered in fine sand mixed with gravel, with rocks dotted all around, as well as being hemmed in by dunes punctuated by rich scented vegetation in stark chromatic contrast with the unbelievable blue of the sea. The beach is found in a mining zone, and therefore on view, are the ruins of the buildings associated with the nearby mines; the stores or the depositories of the minerals to be embarked, but also tunnels that lead to the so-called Caletta, a reserved and very intimate beach, in which the mouth of a stream is found. In front, on the calcareous peninsula that looks to the south, the view is dominated by a solitary Spanish tower - Torre Spagnola. The area is particularly loved by scuba fishing enthusiasts or simply by those wishing to take a dip in its uncontaminated waters, perhaps with a mask and flippers to discover the treasures that are hidden below the waterline. The beach of Cala Domestica - Spiaggia di Cala Domestica - is located on the diverse south-western coast of Sardinia. Cala Domestica is situated in what used to be a mining area, and some ruins of the mining buildings are still visible. The Spanish Tower or La Torre Spagnola is the oldest and most imposing tower in Sardinia which was built around 1595. The tower was built as a coastal defense system against pirate raids from North Africa and over time it has prevented illegal trafficking between Sardinia and Corsica. Access to the tower has been shut down for many years, but you are still able to walk around the tower and enjoy the panoramic views. We hike along the coastline of between Masua and Buggerru. http://ift.tt/2o8Zbq1.
